Libraries are not just about books, though my love of books and reading is the reason I decided to apply for a library job way back in 1994 😱 Yup decades at the same organization. Why? (Grace >> at the job too!)

We serve the public, people of all walks of life, from different cultures, interests, economic statuses, needs. We offer places & spaces where ALL are WELCOME to take part in what we have to offer from books and DVDs to online resources like Mango and streaming services like eZone & hoopla (audio books & more yay!) and Kanopy; to some of the important basics of life: a bottle of water, a warm smile, a comfortable seat to read, chat, rest, play a game, build a puzzle...

And in-person engagement like lectures, from gardening to history to mushroom gathering & cooking; book discussions, all kinds of discussions really. And learning & doing: from languages, to maker equipment, to weaving, to gardening, to art in so many different forms; to performances like jazz and klezmer concerts, Festival Ballet & film fests; and for the kids: so MUCH: story times, play times, arts & crafts, visits from Spidey and other fascinating performers, homework help & summer reading!

Each week we have several classes for learners of the English language and GED classes for Spanish speakers and classes for those learning Spanish. And services like notary, faxing, wifi/pc use, maker equipment.

There's so much more but this is too long already lol.
