The Community Libraries of Providence (CLPVD) has established the Patricia Raub Memorial Fund for Wanskuck Library to broaden library services there. We will also be hosting a special dedication and celebration of Patricia’s life at Wanskuck in the coming months and will announce details shortly.
Patricia is one of four “Founders” who helped create CLPVD in the mid-2000s, spearheading a public campaign that saved several neighborhood “branch” libraries, marked for closure. The campaign led directly to the creation of CLPVD as an independent 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, which took over the management of the nine neighborhood branches from Providence Public Library(PPL). Today, CLPVD is the largest library system in Rhode Island.
Patricia was still an active member of the Board of Directors and member of the Wanskuck Friends Group. She will always be remembered for her tenacity and drive for equality, but most of all for her dedication and friendship.
