Help Keep Libraries FREE! Join me and help make a difference, please give today.
I know you love libraries. And so do I, especially my Community Libraries of Providence - so much so that I am board Secretary and serve on multiple committees.
Yes, the City of Providence provides our foundational funding and for that we are ever grateful.
We are also private charitable nonprofit. So we count on your donation, and that of many others, to enable our our nine neighborhood libraries to offer a vast array of programs and resources - maker spaces, preschool and music programs, sewing classes and more -- all for free!
I should repeat that - nine neighborhood libraries! And all in historic buildings. If you've ever lived in an old house, you can imagine the upkeep that that involves to keep them safe, healthy and accessible.
If you live in Providence, then you know that you benefit from all that our libraries offer. But guess what, if you live outside of Providence you can still attend IRL or through our virtual programming. And if you live in RI and have a library card, you have access to books and other resources that are in our library but not yours.
Now more than ever we need your help. Libraries and librarians are still under attack across the United States. We have not been immune -- but we are standing strong!
Last year was nail-biting past year for City finances - and subsequently, for our libraries.
Your support signals that you recognize the critical importance of libraries to the preservation of our democracy.
So, please make a gift today.
Warmest,
Gayle
P.S. Thank you to everyone who donated last year. You rallied and I was deeply grateful.
